Does this feel familiar?

Start With What The Problem Is Stopping You From Doing.

When pain starts changing a movement, position, task or activity, that is a useful place to begin. See whether any of these experiences sound familiar.

Stairs Hurt

Going up or down can reveal strength and load-tolerance problems.

Squatting Feels Painful Or Unsafe

Knee bend and hip control may need assessment.

Walking Distance Is Reducing

Pain or stiffness begins limiting daily activity.

Exercise Causes Flare-Ups

Running, gym work or sport becomes inconsistent.

What · Why · How

Understand Knee Pain Before Choosing The Next Step.

Start with the pattern you feel. The goal is to understand the problem well enough to choose appropriate care, not to force a diagnosis from one symptom.

  1. WHAT
    What Patients Usually Notice

Knee pain may show up on stairs, during squats, after running, while kneeling or when getting up from a chair.

  2. WHY
    Why The Pattern Matters

Pain can be influenced by the knee itself, hip and ankle mechanics, strength, swelling, load changes or tissue irritability.

  3. HOW
How SPORT-FIT PHYSIO CARE Approaches It

SPORT-FIT PHYSIO CARE checks movement, swelling, stability and strength, then selects treatment and progressive rehabilitation according to the problem and goals.

Understand the pattern

What May Be Influencing Your Symptoms?

The page does not diagnose you. It helps explain why the same symptom can behave differently from one person to another, and why assessment should guide the care plan.

The Knee Shares Load With Hip And Ankle

Lower-limb mechanics can change knee demand.

Pain Is Not Always Damage

Irritability and load tolerance matter alongside structural findings.

Strength Is A Key Part Of Recovery

Quadriceps, hip and calf capacity often need progressive work.

Integrated Manual Therapy™

What SPORT-FIT PHYSIO CARE Checks Before Deciding What To Do.

SPORT-FIT PHYSIO CARE uses an assessment-led rehabilitation pathway. The focus is on the current healing or injury stage, movement, strength, swelling or irritability, functional goals and any medical or surgical precautions before deciding what treatment or rehabilitation is appropriate.

Pain Location

Front, inner, outer or back of knee.

Swelling & Mechanical Symptoms

Catching, locking or giving way.

Range Of Motion

Bending and straightening.

Strength

Quadriceps, hamstrings, hips and calf when relevant.

Movement Quality

Stairs, squat, sit-to-stand, walking or running.

Safety

Hot/red swelling, inability to bear weight or significant trauma.

  1. 01Understand Irritability

Identify loads that trigger pain or swelling.

  2. 02Restore Movement

    Recover useful bend and extension.

  3. 03Build Strength

    Quadriceps, hip and lower-limb capacity.

  4. 04Improve Control

Single-leg control, stairs and squat mechanics.

  5. 05Increase Load Tolerance

Walking, gym, running or sport progression.

  6. 06Return To Goals

Daily life, exercise or sport with a plan.

One Clinical Direction, Not A Menu Of Techniques.

You do not need to choose chiropractic, osteopathy, myofascial release or another method before you arrive. SPORT-FIT PHYSIO CARE selects appropriate techniques after assessment and rechecks the movement or task that mattered to you.

Clinical context

If You Have A Scan, We Still Need To See How The Knee Works.

MRI and X-ray findings can be useful, but they do not replace assessment of swelling, movement, strength and the exact activities that provoke pain.

  • Bring existing imaging if available.
  • True locking or repeated giving-way should be reported clearly.
  • A hot, red, rapidly swollen knee or inability to bear weight needs medical assessment.

“I had been experiencing severe knee joint pain for over a month when I visited Sport-Fit Physio Care to consult Mrs. Famidha, a skilled Manual Therapist. She accurately identified the root cause of my pain and provided effective treatment over the course of five days. Following this, Ms. Ashura, Therapist Trainer and Mrs. Famidha’s assistant, guided me through exercises with great care and professionalism, making the sessions both effective and engaging.

The treatment and exercise regimen were exemplary, and I experienced no negative side effects. I am extremely satisfied with the care I received and highly recommend Sport-Fit Physio Care for anyone seeking quality therapy treatment.”

Questions patients ask before booking

Clear Answers Before Your First Visit.

8 focused questions for Knee Pain

These questions address common worries around scans, safety, activity, treatment and rehabilitation. They are educational and do not replace an individual clinical assessment.

01Is knee pain always arthritis?

No. Knee pain can relate to patellofemoral loading, tendon problems, meniscus, ligament injury, arthritis or other causes. The pattern and examination matter.

02Should I avoid stairs?

Not necessarily forever. Early modification may help, but rehabilitation often aims to rebuild the strength and tolerance needed for stairs.

03Can I squat again?

Many people can return to some form of squat, but depth, load and technique should match the diagnosis and stage of recovery.

04Do I need an MRI?

Not every knee problem requires MRI. Imaging is more useful when clinical findings suggest a structural injury or when it will change management.

05What does strength testing add?

Objective strength comparison can show whether the painful leg has lost capacity and can help guide rehabilitation progression.

06What if the knee locks or gives way?

True locking, repeated instability or significant swelling deserves careful assessment and may require orthopaedic review depending on the findings.

07Is clicking in my knee dangerous?

Clicking without pain or locking is common and not always a sign of damage. Painful catching, true locking, swelling or instability should be assessed.

08Can I keep walking with knee pain?

Often some walking can continue if symptoms are manageable, but distance and pace may need adjustment. The assessment helps determine a sensible loading level.
